Hello there! My name is Steve Cross, and I’m excited to have you stop by my little piece of the web. Born and raised in the scenic settings of Eastern Ontario, I like to think I have a good handle on appreciating nature and the beautiful world that surrounds us—though I must admit that those snowbanks were quite formidable! Now, I call the stunning Vancouver Island my home, where the ocean whispers sweet nothings to the towering trees, and the misty mountains stand guard like determined uncles at a family reunion.
Vancouver Island is like a postcard come to life. It boasts an incredible mix of rugged coastlines and lush forests, sprinkled with charming towns and vibrant communities. In the mornings, I love taking long walks along the beach where the salty air fills my lungs, and I can witness the playfulness of sea otters and the elegance of passing whales. And let’s not forget about the awe-inspiring views from the island’s mountains—if you can make it there without tripping over your own feet, that is!
Photography and videography are two of my biggest passions, allowing me to share my love of nature and life with the world. Whether it’s capturing the brilliant hues of a sunset or the intricate details of a dewdrop on a leaf, I find immense joy in framing moments that tell a story. I often joke that I have an ongoing contest with my camera—sometimes it wins when I forget to adjust the settings, but most times, I like to think I come out victorious!

When I’m not behind the lens, you can usually find me out on the trails, indulging in two of my other favorite activities: hiking and mountain biking. There’s nothing quite like the thrill of zipping down a rugged trail or reaching the summit of a mountain after what feels like an eternity of huffing and puffing. Hiking allows me to reconnect with nature, and my mountain bike offers a little taste of adventure in between all that reconnecting. If you ever see me out on the trails, I promise to wave—though whether it’s a wave of camaraderie or a desperate plea for help after a particularly challenging climb will remain a mystery!
I am also a proud cancer and stroke survivor, which adds a whole different layer to my life’s story. While some folks might drag a dark cloud around, I’ve found that humor and perseverance are the best companions in tough times. I like to think that my experience has given me a different perspective on life; it’s often the bumps in the road that lead us to the best adventures. With a laugh and a wink, I make every moment count—including those times when I’ve mistaken poison oak for a trendy new plant in my garden. Lesson learned!
Now that you have a little taste of who I am, I hope you’ll stick around to explore some of my photography, share a few laughs, and join me on this adventure called life. Thanks for visiting, and don’t be a stranger! After all, there’s a lot of beauty out there just waiting for someone who knows how to look.
